Yes, I’m THE Sassy Dog of Sassy Dog Studio – and the brains behind this operation. Here’s a little bit about me.
My copywriting career started in radio when I was a pup of about 8 years old. Seriously. My mom and dad were hosting a swinging big band show at a community, non-profit in rural New Jersey (no, that is not an oxymoron), and twice a year they had to fundraise. They muddled along, getting a donation here and there, but once I got involved they saw their numbers go through the roof. Old school direct mail campaigns and heart-warming scripts for when they had to make direct pleas for cash got us a 66% return rate on our list. I had it down to a science.
Next thing you know, people on other shows would mention me and my marketing. I became a local celebrity! People signed up for my emails and newsletters, and even sent me boxes of biscuits. Life was good.
Now we live in Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley and we’re starting all over. We write websites copy, emails, and more for small businesses – especially ones in the health/wellness and home improvement spaces. Oh, and I have some ebooks in production and am working on a store full of sassy merchandise.

This is me, during my days as a radio dog.
This is my mom. She sleeps with a thesaurus under her pillow.
My mom, Deb Orchowski, is a big fan of the Oxford comma. She also knows Serious Things and uses phrases like “inverse myotatic stretch reflex.” That’s because she studied exercise physiology, managed corporate health and wellness programs, and then handled marketing and All Things Words for my dad’s kitchen design company.
Over the years she’s done a lot of writing. Website copy, emails, policy manuals, instructional guides, and even audio scripts.
Her clients and readers like her, but sometimes she writes like she’s sitting on a pack of pencils, if you get what I’m saying. That’s when I have to step in and give the text a little personality. Style. Sass. I can do that for you too.

Karen’s an early worm who always gets her bird.
During the day, Karen (who likes to keep a low profile) is a marketing manager for an engineering firm. During her off-hours she becomes a content super-hero.
No. I’m not exaggerating. Anyone who can make Instagram posts of reinforced concrete look sexy is a social media superstar.
She’s a pro at writing proposals and submissions for government agencies. Her middle name might as well be “deadline.”
In addition to writing for social media, she makes sure that we don’t make any big mistakes in our content – mistakes that will get us censored or arrested. (Hey, no one needs THAT on their permanent record!)
When she’s not busy being a marketing genius, Karen hikes, raises chickens, and watches birds. She’s the wife of a fisherman who tells tall tales, and mom to a rabid Yankee fan, a teenaged entrepreneur, a very cool dog named Sugar, and a couple of annoying cats.
